Versatile Writing
My writing abilities are versatile spanning the spectrum from a 159-page doctoral dissertation to short-form scientific articles. I can write highly technical manuscripts for scientific publication, but I can also write creative, informative, and easy-to-understand pieces that are ideal for public and media audiences.
My background in media as well as research combined with my creative instincts have allowed me to develop a well-rounded writing style. I truly believe that I am a stronger writer in all forms due to the versatility of my skills and the diversity of my background.
My writing also encompasses video scripts and social media posts.
User Research
I have executed user research from very applied user experience research to more theoretical social science with deep experience leading mixed-methods research projects to understand how people interact with complex systems—particularly in high-stakes, science-driven environments. At NOAA, I spearheaded user research initiatives to enhance critical decision support tools, uncovering workflow inefficiencies, user pain points, and emotional impacts through surveys, interviews, usability testing, and social media analytics. My work translated behavioral and attitudinal data into actionable design and communication strategies for cross-functional teams, driving both product improvement and stakeholder alignment. My aim is to reveal the human stories behind the data to guide meaningful, user-centered design and policy decisions. I am adept at using numerous qualitative and quantitative user research platforms.
